Your Lucky Day Blu-ray Review: Capitalist Hostage Crisis

I saw Your Lucky Day at Fantastic Fest. It’s a clever twist on a hostage thriller and gives the late Angus Cloud a compelling role.

He holds up a convenience store when a customer buys a winning lottery ticket. But claiming the money means getting the hostages on his side and keeping the cops out.

It mostly holds up for 90 minutes. Cloud shows complexity. He’s dangerous and makes desperate choices but sympathetic because he’s also a victim of a society that forces people to do desperate things for money.

The Blu-ray captures the fluorescent lighting of the convenience story. It’s digital photography at night which, though sharper, evokes the look of security footage fittingly.
