One thing that Xbox has going for itself right now, is its backwards compatibility functionality. Not only are players able to play all the games they love from the 360 era, but the Xbox also supports the original Xbox era as well.
Today, Xbox has announced the release of game from both previous systems. The list includes the following:
ORIGINAL XBOX GAMES RELEASING ON APRIL 17:
Blinx: The Time Sweeper
Conker: Live & Reloaded
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Hunter: The Reckoning
Panzer Dragoon Orta
ORIGINAL XBOX GAMES RELEASING ON APRIL 26:
Destroy All Humans!
Full Spectrum Warrior
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only)
Star Wars: Battlefront
Star Wars: Battlefront II
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Star Wars: Republic Commando
XBOX 360 GAMES AVAILABLE NOW:
Gears of War 2
Red Dead Redemption
Sonic Generations (first time available on Xbox One)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
All games have been tweaked to look great on the Xbox one X to support 4K resolution, as well as HDR support.
Anyone can pick up a disk and plug it straight into the disk drive, with little downloading required. Because this process works on an emulation level, updates can roll out smoothly as though they are new releases. However, there is something to be said about the feeling of knowing you can finally play Gears of War 2 in 4K with the old 360 disk.
