Comic book video games have had a rocky past with some of them not being any good. We had some good ones with a few Spider-Man games, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and of course the highly acclaimed Batman Arkham Series. So what’s next? Well we know that DC hasn’t put the brakes on their video games. In a recent interview with the Official Playstation Blog, Warner Bros. Interactive’s VP Ames Kirshen spoke about what’s next for WB Interactive.
“When choosing what DC Entertainment IP we might focus on for any game, it boils down to honing in on the IPs that map the strongest, genre-wise, to what fans are interested in seeing and playing. From there, it’s about getting the development studios with the strongest passion for those IPs to make the games. ”
So then the question boils down to well which character would be great to play in a video game? Superman, flying over Metropolis and fighting crime? The Flash Protecting Central City, Green Arrow Kicking ass in Star City, Or the Suicide Squad, with missions, assassinations, and strikes on Arkham Asylum etc, taking on the good guys. Kirshen acknowledged that the DC Comics and Vertigo roster is full of potential candidates, and that it’s a hard choice.
Then what happens to the Batman games, was Arkham Knight really the last Batman game? Kirshen weighs in on the question.
“We don’t have anything to talk about at this time, but the possibilities are endless with a character as dynamic and beloved as Batman.”
