As a fan of the Broadway musical, my one big fear going in to see the feature film this weekend, is that I will be seated next to an off-key diva who will attempt to sing each and every one of the well-known tunes. Even though they know they cannot hit that high-note in Defying Gravity.
DO NOT DO IT Y’ALL…. (That will NOT make you “popular”)
WAIT FOR THE OFFICIAL SING-ALONG! …on Christmas Day.
Universal’s upcoming movie musical will be offered in roughly 1,000 North American cinemas starting on Dec. 25 — approximately one month after “Wicked” lands on the big screen. Exact plans, including the location count and showtimes, have yet to be finalized.
“Wicked” opens in theaters on Nov. 22… at which time audiences will belt along to classics like “Popular” and “Defying Gravity” at their own peril. Act 1 of the beloved Broadway show also features such memorable tunes as “Dancing Through Life,” “The Wizard and I” and “One Short Day.” Bonus points for theatergoers who can mimic Doctor Dillamond’s goat cry in “Something Bad.”
I SEE YOU. And I know you will be in your pink and green, ready to Sing your hearts out. But do us all a favor, because you don’t sound as good as you think you do. Save it for Christmas Day.
