News from the “RoboCop” set has been sparse as of late. A few images have been posted in recent months with mostly lukewarm comments following in their wake. Potential audiences may not understand that this version of RoboCop comes with many forms and accessories. This was briefly touched upon in “RoboCop 3” with the jetpack prototype. As part of the remake’s storyline, the various suits are Omnicorp’s way of perfecting RoboCop’s armor. After all, they do own the police department.
So, what’s new? Two images have made their way online featuring Officer Alex Murphy/RoboCop (actor Joel Kinnaman) in his 1.0 armor, the EM-208, which is basically a human shaped drone without Murphy’s living tissue. The follow-up image shows off Murphy’s Combat Suit, which is capable of transforming into various vehicles. Think of a “robot in disguise.” Apparently, the script also calls for versions of a silver, black, and red RoboCop suit. This should prove interesting.
Here’s the storyline for the film.
In a crime-ridden city, a terminally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him.
“RoboCop” will hit theaters on February 7th, 2014. The action/sci-fi feature stars Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Michael Keaton, Aimee Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jennifer Ehle, and Douglas Urbanski. Nick Schenk, James Vanderbuilt, and Joshua Zetumer wrote the screenplay based on characters created by Michael Miner and Edward Neumeier. José Padilha directs.
