On May 6, 2023, a Trigun fan account on Twitter skyrocketed to fame. The reason? The account avidly promoted the sci-fi novel This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. Now known as bigolas dickolas [woIfwood] everywhere, the fan had originally tweeted:
read this. DO NOT look up anything about it. just read it. it’s only like 200 pages u can download it on audible it’s only like four hours. do it right now i’m very extremely serious.
*grabs you personally by the throat* you will do this. for me. you will go to the counter at barnes and noble. you will buy this. i will be greatly rewarded
In the period of less than a week, both the twitter account and the novel had gone viral. The book has hit #1 in various charts, including #1 in Science Fiction on Amazon, while the tweet itself has reached both authors of the book and Trigun Stampede producer Yoshihiro Watanabe. Mr. Watanabe has indeed taken “bigolas dickolas'” recommendation and has bought a copy of the book since.
Have I bought the book? Yes.

“bigolas dickolas” has hilariously been mentioned by that name in mainstream media to their own incredulity—judging from subsequent reaction posts—as the original viral tweet caught the attention of multiple big names. They were even referenced at the 2023 Nebula Awards on May 14, 2023.
