Publisher THQ Nordic has announced that it has recently picked up the rights for the classics Timesplitters and Second Sight. They are releasing their post-apocalyptic adventure Darksiders 3 later this year.

TimeSplitters was originally released in 2000 by Free Radical Design for PlayStation 2 and is fondly remembered by fans of the series. The fast-paced multiplayer shooter featured a lighthearted comedic take on the genre through a wealth of charming characters and silly weapons. There were also a number of popular sequels released, including TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.

With the news that THQ Nordic is now the franchise’s home, this means that there is a chance that we could see future installments or see the older games re-released or remastered for the TimeSplitters series for modern consoles.

THQ Nordic has not yet stated what its intentions are with the newly acquired properties.
