“Thor: The Dark World” Adds Two Cast Members

Although “Thor: The Dark World” is currently in production, actors Richard Brake and Clive Russell have been added to the cast.  The film has a multitude of locations on its schedule, but it is currently filming in Surrey, England.

Richard Brake may be the more recognizable of the pair.  He played Joe Chill in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins.” Deadline Hollywood disclosed that Brake will be playing a captain of the elite warriors known as the Einherjar in the Thor sequel. In the comics, it was this group of men who trained Thor. There is a chance that more of Thor’s origin will be revealed, and/or a possibility he will gain new allies.

Russell is probably best known for his turn as Captain Tanner in the “Sherlock Holmes” movies, though “Spaced” fans might know him as the head of Darkstar Comics Damien Knox. He’ll be playing Tyr, Thor’s older brother and Asgard’s God of War. And it sounds as though he and Thor have a contentious relationship. Heads may roll.

The action/adventure/fantasy “Thor: The Dark World” is currently in production and will land in theaters on November 8th, 2013. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner (rumored,) Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Richard Brake, Clive Russell, Zachary Levi, Ray Stevenson, Christopher Eccleston, Jaimie Alexander, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Rene Russo, Tadanobu Asano, Richard Whiten, Russell Balogh, Jonathan Howard, and David Stay.  John Payne and Robert Rodat wrote the screenplay based on the comic books and characters created by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, and Larry Leiber.  Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) directs.
