The highly anticipated 007 film Spectre is expected to be a major hit this year with Sony Pictures, however the distribution rights holder Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has with Sony is set to expire after Spectre‘s release, now a bidding war between all the major studios has already begun.
Here’s what Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman told Variety about the property.
“The reality is that Sony’s had a fantastic run with the Bonds,” said Rothman. “Sure we’re going to compete for (the rights), but let’s be honest, so is everybody in the business.” He even joked about the ferocity and wide-reaching nature of the bidding war to come, saying that “I hear Variety is putting in a bid.”
Spectre is set for release on November 6th, 2015
