The Iron Claw Blu-ray Review: Recreating the Von Erichs

The Iron Claw condensed the lives of the Von Erich family into a two hour movie. To do so, they had to eliminate one of the brothers entirely. But, the film is a loving testament to the tragic loss of three Von Erichs and the perseverance of Kerry, played by Zac Efron.

Now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital, the home video releases include bonus feautres that inform viewers about the adaptation and recreations of wrestling history.

A 30-minute behind the scenes feature really goes into the costumes and character presentation at different ages, recreating the Sportatorium as well as insights into the real family and adapting their story into film.

A 20-minute Q&A is a little more fluff but it lets talent give full sound bites, not edited. Whether they’re talking about the actors’ physicality, process or director Sean Durkin’s childhood admiration for the sport, it is an informative epilogue to the behind-the-scenes piece.
