The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be placed with The Man of Steel when it opens on June 14th. The trailer is set for the standard trailer length of two minute thirty seconds long. It is also going to debut online two days earlier on June 12th at 10 a.m. PST. I’m going to speculate that Smaug will show in there at least with some dialogue by Benedict Cumberbatch. There could also be Evangeline Lilly’s Tauriel and possibly Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman. Lilly noted her character’s relationship with Legolas so it may not be a stretch to see Orlando Bloom in the trailer. Beorn, played by Mikael Persbrandt, is listed in the cast, so it would be interesting to see him. He gives Thorin and company refuge and helps in the Battle of Five Armies. The Desolation of Smaug will be released on December 13th.
