The Arrival 4K UHD Review: ID4K

I always wondered if The Arrival sat on the shelf until they heard about Independence Day and rushed it out a month before. David Twohy doesn’t say that in his new interview. in fact, he confirms it was after working on Terminal Velocity, so that lines up with his next movie two years later.

Though it had fewer special effects to boast, The Arrival is still a nice looking movie. Even low budget movies in the ‘90s were still shot on film. So the night sky and alien lair produce deep shadow in 4K.

They’ve also upgraded the surround sound on the SETI signals.

Twohy also tells Charlie Sheen stories, but they’re marital woes not partying. It resolved during production, but obviously Sheen was married twice more.

Additional bonus features take you behind the visual effects and restoration.
