The Accountant 2 proved The Accountant can be a franchise. By emphasizing the mismatched brothers, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal join the ranks of 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour and more.
It’s also a rare L.A. movie so it’s nice to see local sights on screen. Now at home I can see those locations in 4K which frankly looks better than they do on the street.
The 4K UHD of The Accountant 2 has good deep shadows in dive bars, the pier at night, a seedy motel and trailer park. There’s a bit of neon in the honky tonk bar where Affleck learns to line dance. It gives the film a slight noir-ish look, even though it is mostly a contemporary modern day movie.
There isn’t much action surround sound until the heavy artillery finale. The most notable other sound effect is the cymbal in the country band.
Sadly, there are no bonus features for The Accountant 2. Perhaps we’ll have to wait to complete the Accountant trilogy special edition. If this sequel is any indication, keep ‘em coming.
