Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition free trial launches April 23rd, New Breath of Fire costume revealed

Capcom had some news today regarding Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and sadly no it wasn’t a new fighter coming to the game but instead news about costumes and the upcoming free trial edition.

From April 23rd to May 5th, PS4 and Steam users will be able to download Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and enjoy the game. The free trial will feature 20 different playable characters to choose from which include the original 16 characters from when the game first released back in 2016 which include Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Bison, Rashid, Zangief, Cammy and so on along with 4 DLC characters which include Akuma, Menat, Blanka and Juri which will only be available in Ranked, Casual, Battle Lounge, Training, and Challenge Modes.

While Steam users can play the game online during the free trial, PS4 users will need to have PSN Plus to access the online features.

Costumes Galore

The other piece of news from Capcom was the announcement of plenty of costumes returning along with one new one.

What do Falke from Street Fighter V and Katt from Breath of Fire II have in common? From May 10 to June 7 in Extra Battle Mode, Capcom is teaming up these two heroines for a crossover costume featuring the beloved role-playing classic originally published in 1994. Both Falke and Katt expertly wield staves in battle, and both know guys named Ryu (different dudes) – what match could be more perfect?

Additionally, you can obtain the Breath of Fire II background music during this time in Extra Battle Mode, which will also be available May 10 through June 7!

As a fan of the Breath of Fire series, I’m glad to see Capcom give the series some love but sadly as I don’t use Falke. It’s a shame Ryu isn’t getting a Ryu costume from Breath of Fire III or IV but I’ll gladly take the background music.

Everything else is returning costumes you may have missed the first time around which include 8 for Ryu that include Jin Saotome, Mega Man and Arthur which will cost you $14.99 one for Chun-Li with 9 costumes including Morrigan and June. Finally a Capcom Costume Bundle that includes various costumes for the cast featuring Monster Hunter, Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry and Ghouls N’ Ghosts.

Capcom will also be bringing back (to be honest I never knew that they were even gone) the Capcom Pro Tour DLC Bundles for 2016 ($9.99), 2017 ($14.99) and 2018 ($14.99).
