STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: Kathleen Kennedy Talks Han Solo’s Age And Tone For the Film

With the news of the next Star Wars Anthology film to focus on Han Solo, fans have been asking questions left and right. Who’s going to direct? Who’s going to play Han Solo? How young Would Solo be? Well some of those questions were answered when it was announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller were brought on to direct the film from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan. Now we have the following logline of the film.

The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

So it leaves us back to questioning well how young will he actually be? Well now in a recent interview with EW Kathleen Kennedy provided some new details on the film.

“He’ll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s,” Kennedy says. “We’re not introducing you to a 10-year-old Han Solo.”

Now that we know the age, one Major piece of information we need to know is the approach they’re planning on taking the film overall. Here’s what Kennedy had to say about that.

“I think the key here is that we are identifying an event or events in Han Solo’s life that gives you some idea of who he is and why he is the character we have all known to love.”

With the script still in development, EW says “fans should expect something along the lines of an adventure comedy. Kennedy explains, “Han Solo is the character inside Star Wars that everybody knows has a wit and sense of humor. So that’s what this should be.”

Now going to which character could appear in the Han Solo film, EW says that Chewie, Lando, Jabba, Greedo, and characters from the new canon could appear in the film.
