Back in 1994, the world was introduced to Shaq Fu and well…there isn’t much I can say about the terrible fighting game that was released on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis that tons of popular YouTubers haven’t said. If you for some reason haven’t heard of the game, well I’d find one of those videos just for a good laugh.
Back in 2014, there was an Indiegogo campaign to make a new Shaq Fu game that successfully raised $473,884, which was well over it’s original goal of $450,000. While news on the game has been silent for the last for years, we finally know that the game is set for release on June 5th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Instead of being a fighting game, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is a side-scrolling beat-‘em-up brawler and to be honest looks pretty interesting and silly in a good way.
A throwback to old-school gaming reimagined for a new generation, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is an intense, combo-fueled, side-scrolling beat-‘em-up brawler starring Shaq himself. Master powerful martial arts fighting moves to conquer the world’s greatest challengers and avenge your home in this fast-paced and outrageous adventure.
PlayStation 4 owners will be able to purchase Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn digitally for $19.99 and the game will also get a physical release on the PS4 and Xbox One for $29.99. The Nintendo Switch version will retail for $39.99 and for those who previously purchased NBA Playgrounds will get a digital copy of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn for free.
