I guess Scarface has been on 4K since 2019 before I upgraded. So I’m glad to review this new collector’s edition and my first view of the film in 4K.
The highlight of this edition is the metal poster of Al Pacino as Tony Montana. It’s iconic and comes with a magnet for a refrigerator or other metal board.
The 1983 streets of Cuba and Miami really come to life in 4K. There are deep shadows from the refugee barracks to the black bars on Tony’s estate.
Once he’s risen, the interior of that estate has bright red walls and carpet. The night life is permeated with glowing neon, and all the water is perfect blue.
California sure looked convincingly like bOlivia. Well, I’ve never been so I take their word for it.
1983 wasn’t surround sound yet but home video has upgraded it over the years so you’re hearing sirens and helicopters gunshots and of course the little friend at the end.
The Gold edition Steelbook inside includes the 2018 reunion at Tribeca Film Festival and previous extras.
