The highly anticipated Deadpool movie is a little less than a month away, but just a couple of years ago, it was just merely a test footage clip that was just about scrapped. Thanks to the leaked test footage, the voicing of Deadpool fans and Ryan Reynolds taking to social media to help the movie get made, the film is finally coming to the big screen. Reynolds is hoping that this film will help get another fan-favorite Marvel hero to the big screen.
At an early screening of Deadpool in New York yesterday, Reynolds made a surprise appearance at the screening and also did a Q & A with the audience. During that Q & A, Reynolds explained which characters were being talked about for the film but ultimately didn’t make the cut. Reynolds explained that Taskmaster, whose rights recently went back to Marvel Studios, was one character that was talked about a lot. After he mentioned Taskmaster, Reynolds expressed his hopes on more Deadpool films getting made, to which the crowd applauded and someone in the audience yelled out, “Cable and Deadpool!” Reynolds quickly responded to that saying:
“Your lips to God’s ears, my friend. Believe me, that’s being talked about.”
According to Comicbook.com, that reply was followed with Reynolds giving “a smile, a nod, and raised his eyebrows as if to emphasize the point.”
Back at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, director Tim Miller also mentioned Cable coming to the big screen by saying:
“There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don’t put Cable in Deadpool 2 I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail.”
Deadpool finally comes to the big screen Feb.12, 2016 and I have no doubt that Cable will come to the big screen, whether it’s in a Deadpool sequel or an X-Force film.
