Resident Evil 7 is Coming to Nintendo Switch…Via the Cloud

Resident Evil 7 will finally be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, but there is a giant catch. Rather than running off of the Switch’s hardware, it will have to be streamed to the console via the Cloud. Think like PlayStation Now, where the games are streamed to the system, meaning you better have a good internet connection if you don’t want the game to lag.

For now this will only be released in Japan on May 24, with no word on a Western release. Resident Evil 7 is priced at 2,000 yen ($18) for a 180-day ticket. That’s correct, you’ll have to keep paying if you want to play this game for longer. If you also want to play this game out in public, you better hope there is good Wi-Fi at Starbucks or something.

I don’t know about you, but I would have preferred a graphically downgraded version running on the Switch.
