PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN 5 Begins Production

Today, Disney announced that production is in full swing on Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Based on the Disney Theme Park attraction, this marks the fifth film in the series, which began way back in 2003 with Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The movie is currently filming at Village Roadshow Studios in Australia with additional location work to be filmed in Queensland, Australia. Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films are producing.

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will open in theaters on July 7, 2017. The film stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom (rumored,) Brenton Thwaites, Martin Klebba, Kevin McNally, Rodney Afif, Geoffrey Rush, Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Brown and Stephen Graham. Jeff Nathanson (Tower Heist, Catch Me If You Can) wrote the screenplay based on characters created by Stuart Beattie, Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio and Jay Wolpert. Joachim Rønning & Espen Sandberg (Marco Polo, Kon-Tiki) direct.
