Peter Parkers New Face In Spider-Man Remastered Has Divided The Internet

We are getting closer and closer to the launch of next gen consoles and with that the build to the release of some of the most ambitious launch titles continue with a teaser of Spider-Man Remastered.

But with great remasters come great responsibilities and this trailer has single handedly divided the fanbase on Peters new face.

The trailer is a scene from the 2018 PS4 title in which Doctor Octavious shows off his invention to a surprised Peter Parker and along with it fans were immediately drawn to the replacement of Spider-Man actor John Bubniak’s face. Insomniac went on a seemingly day long recovery mode to ensure that the decision was not made lightly.

This does bring us to one of the bigger changes. In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.

News travelled fast and it immediately became a hot topic on every social media site and even brought about a statement from Creative Director at Insomniac Bryan Intihar:

Needless to say fans felt betrayed by the sudden recasting and limited and repeated reasoning from Insomniac. As for new fill in Ben Jordan he has some large shoes to fill as fans are not yet willing to let John Bubniak go.

This whole circus of emotions and favor on social media could have been handled better by Insomniac especially for a highly anticipated game like Spider-Man launching on one of the most highly anticipated consoles of our generation.

Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released November 12th on PS5.
