We know that Hugh Jackman, Director James Mangold and Writer Michael Green are all working on the next Wolverine movie and now we can add that Patrick Stewart will Join the film as Charles Xavier, but it will be more the a cameo.
In a interview with Collider, Stewart was asked about the rumors of his involvement and the Old Man Logan Story, here’s what he has to say:
think what you say is true. There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
He went on to Joke about The Old Man Logan story:
“And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.”
When Writer/executive producer Jonathan Ames noted that Wolverine doesn’t age, Stewart explained in the following:
“He’s not supposed to. Unfortunately, actors do and so I think Hugh maybe has begun to get a little uncomfortable, and I know how that feels.”
So now that we know that Stewart is involved in the film and that their aware of The Old Man Logan rumor, so could we see the story adapted on the big screen? The story was written by Mark Millar and takes place in a United States that’s been conquered by supervillains. Logan’s busy living a quieter life with his wife and kids, but when a blind Hawkeye approaches him with a job offer, Logan has to take it because he needs the cash.
Obviously they can’t use characters like Hawkeye since they don’t have the rights to the character but they can substitute him for another character Fox does own the rights to.
