Whether people want them or not, there will be more Transformers movies. The question is how many? Who will direct them? After Transformers: Dark of the Moon, director Michael Bay planned to hand the franchise over to a new filmmaker who could reboot the series. We know that he changed his mind and came back to direct Age of Extinction as his last film. Although he is not directing, Bay remains involved in the franchise as a producer and apparently now there’s big plans for the Transformers franchise.
according to Deadline, Paramount is looking to plan a multi-shared Transformers universe including sequels and spinoffs, and they brought aboard writer/producer/director Akiva Goldsman (I am Legend, Divergent series: Insurgent) to helm the conquest.
Goldsman, Bay, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to put together and develop a Transformers multi-sequel idea as well as potential spinoff movies which will be in a inter-connected universe much like Marvel Studio’s MCU.
