With so many remakes and reboots being made, especially of films created in the 80’s, some have wondered if or when we would see one for the classic Back to the Future. Can it happen? Will it happen? Is it happening? We may have the answer.
The Telegraph interviewed Back to the Future Trilogy director Robert Zemeckis and asked him if he would ever consider signing off on the rights for a remake. Zemeckis responded by saying, “Oh, God no!” Then he added “That can’t happen until both Bob [Gale, co-writer] and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”
The director continued by saying. “I mean, to me, that’s outrageous, Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying, ’Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane? What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”
Previously Zemeckis and Gale shot down rumors of a fourth Back to the Future film.
What do you think?
