Jason Statham’s latest vehicle has already come home after setting sail at the end of the summer. If you want to see Statham kicking ass, Mutiny has it.
He could just follow Jackie Chan’s lead and be named Jason in every movie but here he’s Cole Reed, bodyguard for a Thai shipping magnate. When his boss is assassinated, he stows away on a cargo ship to find out who was behind the assassination and mayhem ensues. Fight scenes in tight quarters and using practical instruments let Statham go to work.
With 4K VOD you’re getting a pure black ocean at night, the sky and the water. Of course most of the action is on deck where the sky shields the characters.
There is some good shadow below deck where some of the action takes place too. But then the bright sun comes out for the rest of the movie and washes over the action.
With a full surround mix, gunshots ricochet in the rear speakers. The one automotive action scene has skids behind you. On the boat, the walkway swings back and forth audibly.
The only bonus feature is a 2 minute motion slideshow. It seems like what the Blu-ray menu will be but at least you get a taste for it in the digital version.
