Movie Review: If You are Searching for a good film, SEARCHING is the one for you!

Searching is a suspense thriller mystery film that stars John Cho, Debra Messing, Joseph Lee, and Michelle La as a 16-year-old Margot. The movie is directed by Aneesh Chaganty.

After having a perfect family, David Kim (John Cho) loses his wife to cancer then his 16 years old daughter goes missing and the mystery begins.

Searching is a VERY good film because it keeps you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what the heck happened to Margot (David Kim daughter). You may find yourself looking at every inch of the screen, since it’s told from the perspective of a computer monitor, trying to figure out the puzzle. The mystery unravels in real time as you look at it from the perspective of David Kim as he searches through social networks to find out what happened to his daughter. John Cho delivers an awesome performance and I feel he’s better off doing these types of dramas instead of the big budget films. The rest of the cast is also outstanding but Cho takes up about 80% of the screen time.

Although, the first half of the film is grounded in realism the second half asks you to suspend disbelief. It’s nothing that will ruin the movie for you, just a few of the things, especially with the investigation that are just a bit unrealistic.

Overall Searching is an independent film that really deserves your attention.
