A lot of buzz has circulated around the term “Games as a service” as of late. And now it appears that Nintendo plans on pushing for a more sustainable player base with new DLC for their games. Yes, more DLC is coming to The Nintendo Switch.
At Nintendo’s latest earnings report; President of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima stated that Nintendo wants to release “even more” DLC for it’s games. This also includes the notion of brining more in-game events in an attempt to keep players coming back again and again.
Kimishima continued to say that’s Nintendo will, “Promote longer gameplay for individual software titles. We plan to implement even more downloadable content and events that are built for excitement”
Splatoon 2 has already been a case of regular updates, with new weapons and maps. Also, Splatoon continues to roll out their “splat-fests” to entice it’s fan base to chose a side of a trivial decision (such as cake vs Ice cream, also ketchup or mayo) and play on the team you support as much as possible. Breath of The Wild, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Pokkén Tournament are just a kew names/examples of Nintendo already releasing post-launch DLC.
Most can agree, that more content for games we love is a good thing. So we here at Nuke The Fridge are sitting on the edge of our seats to discover what Nintendo has in store.
