At the end of Rob Zombie‘s 2009 Halloween II, Michael Myers clearly died, or did he. Although things look bleak for the man in the mask apparently he’s healthy enough to return for another go around with some teenagers or whatever hapless victim crosses his path. Now, Dimension Films and Trancas International Films will begin production on Halloween Returns in July. The word is it’s another reboot.
Zombie will not be part of the remake. Producers have recruited Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton who wrote several of the Saw films and who have completed writing the screenplay for Michael Myers’ next installment. Dunstan will direct.
Based on the 1978 film by John Carpenter, Malek Akkad will produce while Matthew Stein will fill the role of executive producer. Matthew Signer and Keith Levine are overseeing for Dimension Films.
Akkad had this to say about the franchise.
“The legacy of Halloween is something that Trancas is very proud of, and I look forward to working together again with Bob and Dimension to continue that tradition.”
