M3gan 2.0 Unrated Review: Bonus Blood

The selling point for M3gan 2.0 on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD or digital is the unrated version. The theatrical cut was PG-13 as was the original film, which included a bit more in its unrated version. The unrated cut is barely a minute longer and mostly involves CGI blood added to kills. There is a severed head in the opening and a more graphic severed arm in the climax.

The trailer scene of M3gan breaking out of the box is included in this cut. It’s brief but it’s one more M3gan kill in her classic dress before she changes throughout the film.

Since M3gan 2.0 is more of an action movie, there are a lot more action sounds in the surround mix.

Bonus features showcase building practical sets and new costumes. You also get to see Amie Donald with her face painted blue for the visual effect. More features explore the puppeteering, with Donald and Ivanna Sakhno’s movement work, and the stunts, which includes Donald performing the previs. Sakhno had a contortionist double for her move in the opening, but at least it wasn’t A.I.!
