According to Deadline, Johnny Knoxville is attached to produce a one-hour action comedy series for NBC based on Images Comics’ Hawaiian Dick.
Knoxville was initially attached to star in the project but will only serve as one of the producers.
The script is being penned by Paul Lovett & David Elliot with David Janollari, Eric Gitter and Michael Rotenberg also producing.
Hawaiian Dick was created by B. Clay Moore and Steven Griffin as a mini-series in 2002. The series is a noir style series about a cop, Byrd, exiled to Hawaii in the early 1950’s who finds himself in a few sticky situations involving drugs, crime and the supernatural.
The series received three Eisner nominations.
