According to Deadline, Brendan Glesson and Jeremy Irons have been added to the cast of Assassin’s Creed, the film adaptation of the popular video game series. The story revolves around a man who is able to go back in time and assume the roles of his various ancestors throughout history.
Gleeson and Irons join the film’s lead and producer, Michael Fassbender and previously announced actress Marion Cotillard. Assassin’s Creed is directed by Justin Kurzel.
Gleeson plays the father of Fassbender‘s characters, Callum Lynch, a man who unlocks the technology to unlock his genetic memories, allowing him to experience his ancestor’s adventures in 15th Century Spain. He soon discovers that he’s the descendent of a line of assassins, and use his knowledge and skills to defeat the shady Templar organization in present day.
Irons will play the father of Cotillard‘s character. Check out Assassins Creed when it hits theaters on December 21, 2016.
