Coming off the success of Furious 7, Warner Bros. Announced today that director James Wan has signed on to develop and direct DC’s Aquaman film starring Jason Mamoa. The film is scheduled for a fall 2016 release.
DC’s press release describes the Aquaman as the following:
An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe
In addition to his DC film, Wan has also agreed to direct Sony’s Robotech movie, which he was rumored for as well. 300 producers, Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are developing the project as the rights were brought to Sony back in March.
THR describes Robotech:
Robotech is a sprawling sci-fi epic that takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific island. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions.
