J.J. Abrams Talks THE FORCE AWAKENS Including Snoke, Kylo Ren, and The First Order’s Origins

While speaking to Empire again, director J.J. Abrams gives us more tidbits on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including some more info on who Kylo Ren isn’t, and the origins of the First Order.

Like a sith, Kylo dresses in black and carries a Red lightsaber, but we know that he is from the knights of Ren but Abrams now confirms that kylo isn’t a sith, but someone close to him is.

“Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”

For the longest time there has been ongoing rumors that the character played by Andy Serkis, is in fact Darth Plagueis, but that remains to be confirmed.

Abrams went on to give some info into The First Order and that they are not the remnants of the Empire at all, but more of a fanatical group that is trying to continue their work.

“That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again? What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?”
