My Thoughts

I give the Hustlers Blu-ray a B+.

I actually wasn’t expecting much from this film.  It’s one of those movies where you think it’s one thing when it’s actually another.  This film blew me away.  You looked past the fact that these women were strippers.  They were mothers, girlfriends, and a girl that was kicked out of her house.  These were women who were simply trying to make a living.  You can say they were the female version of Robin Hood.  Along the way, these women built a friendship that turned into a family.

Where to begin.  Jennifer Lopez was awesome in this film and she looks amazing for being 50!  Ramona (Lopez) was a confident, smart, and charismatic person.  Yes, she stole from the “rich” but at the same time, she didn’t want to depend on anyone. Also, she was trying to give herself and her daughter the life that they both deserved.  Mind you, the plan that she came up with was wrong but at the same time theses men had money to burn and she used that to her advantage.

Destiny (Constance Wu) was in the same boat.  She wanted to take care of her Grandmother and later her Daughter.  Again, without depending on anyone.

I feel like these women did what they had to do to survive.  But in the end, they all got too comfortable and got caught.

A great film that keeps you engaged from beginning to end.  A story about a group of women who are trying to survive and in the end they build a friendship that turns into a family.
