Both of these big fan-favorite fantasy sagas have finished filming their new seasons. But we will not see either one of them anytime soon, due to all the post-production/special effects that are required before either one of them can debut.
So don’t brandish your swords and put on your cosplay just yet. Because neither is guaranteed a 2026 release date. Though keep the faith, because it could happen. And at the very least you know that both series are in the pipeline, and on the way. It just takes a while for them to look as good as they look.
AMAZON PRIME VIDEO: RINGS OF POWER
Amazon has confirmed at least one major detail: Season 3 will include a significant time jump, pushing the story forward several years from the events of Season 2. The official logline teases that the new season will take place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord finally begins crafting the One Ring in his bid to dominate Middle-earth.
HBO/MAX: HOUSE OF THE DRAGON
Season 3 will continue the Targaryen Civil War, with former friends, Reynera and Alicent leading rival, factions TEAM BLACK and TEAM GREEN. The season will delve into the brutal years of the conflict, which according to George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, lasted three years.
