Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2 comes out on Blu-ray combo pack Jan. 12. Should you go out and buy it? Find out in my review below.
In Hotel Transylvania 2, Mavis (Selena Gomez) has a child of her own. Daddy Drac (Adam Sandler) finds out what it is to be Papa Drac and with the help of his friends, the team of monsters not only have to babysit but also have to find out whether or not the child, Dennis, has any vampire blood in him.
There aren’t many times where a sequel is better than the previous film and especially if the first one was good. Well this franchise just gets better with each film and it’s a great idea that Sony Pictures decided to make it into a franchise.
Special Features
This Blu-ray combo pack is packed with special features. Both the Blu-ray and DVD have their own special features, with the Blu-ray having exclusive special features. With the Blu-ray you get the following exclusive special features: Deleted Scenes, Sing Along with Dennisovitch Monster Scary-oke, Make The Scary: Silly Sounds of Hotel Transylvania 2, How to Throw the Ultimate Monster Party-which shows you how to make decorations and treats for a party, How to Draw Your Favorite Characters, and The New Guys-a behind the scenes look at the casting and designs of the new characters.
The special features included with the DVD are: Fifth Harmony music video-“I’m in Love With A Monster”, Character Sketch Gallery, Commentary with Director Genndy Tartakovsky, Commentary with Adam Sandler, Robert Smigel and Allen Covert (the commentaries are also on the Blu-ray).
These special features are all great for the kids. I really liked that Sony Pictures Animation added the “How to” features because it’s always nice to see creativity and imagination encouraged.
Packaging
Included in the Blu-ray combo pack are: the Blu-ray disc (which has an image of Blobby on it), the DVD disc and a code for digital HD Ultraviolet, a cardboard protective slip cover and inside the standard Blu-ray case are also a number of coupons for different family events and movies.
Verdict
The film was really cute and funny. It’s a perfect film for the whole family. It’s good to see an Adam Sandler movie that’s worth watching and it had a great cast that included Mel Brooks as Drac’s father. It has a good runtime of 89 minutes with an added 40 minutes of special features. The special features are really cool and the “how to” features are a great idea to add with this kind of film.
I give Hotel Transylvania 2 Blu-ray combo pack 10 fridges out of 10! Definitely go out and get it.
