After last year’s epic season four finale, fans have been salivating for the continuation of HBO’s series “Game of Thrones.” Now the cable channel has announced the official date for the beginning of season 5.
The character rich fantasy-drama from creator George R.R. Martin will premiere on Sunday, April 12th. HBO will also launch the fourth season of “Veep” and the second season of “Silicon Valley” on the same date.
HBO has been keeping a tight lid on its most successful series of all time. No images or trailers have been released teasing any key plot points. So far, only a couple of teaser trailers featuring old footage have been released.
HBO recently announced that the series will get the IMAX treatment later this month when it will be rolled out in limited release. This is the first time a television series has been exhibited in this format, according to IMAX.
“Game of Thrones” episode 5.1 will air on Sunday, April 12th on HBO. The series stars Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Kristian Nairn, Alfie Allen, Rory McCann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, John Bradley, Conleth Hill, Jerome Flynn, Joe Dempsie, Aiden Gillen, Julian Glover, Mark Stanley, Donald Sumpter, Ian McElhinney, Gwendoline Christie, Natalia Tena, Esmé Bianco, Ron Donachie, Amrita Acharia, Stephen Dillane, James Cosmo, Rose Leslie, Finn Jones and Art Parkinson. The series is based on the books written by George R. R. Martin.
