‘Hannibal’ Season 3 Blu-ray Review!

CQwTpngVEAA0X5cWe left Hannibal Season 2 as Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Bedelia du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) are preparing for a flight to Europe. Hannibal had just left a blood bath with our beloved main characters Will (Hugh Dancy), Jack (Laurence Fishburne), and Dr. Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas). It left us gripping the edge of our seats as we had a long wait to find out if they had survived. Was it wrong for me to be on Lecter’s side? We open up with Season 3 as Hannibal is taking a motorcycle ride through the scenic views of Italy. There is no doubt that Hannibal is still up to his mischievous, cannibalistic ways. Of course, our main characters survive. Watch to find out what happens when Hannibal Season 3 comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray on December 8, 2015. Hannibal is based on characters and elements in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris.

My favorite special feature (as always) is the Gag Reel. No matter the TV series or movie, I love seeing the actors having fun on set. It will have you laughing for hours. I also enjoyed watching “Beyond the Palace”. It gave more insight to the characters of Hannibal Season 3.

Video

The scenery in each episode is amazing due to the beautiful buildings and areas they filmed at. The video quality was crystal clear and it was as if I was in Italy with the actors. I am still amazed by how far technology has come.

Audio

The iconic opening credits and the unforgettable music gave me chills. I had my volume turned up and it was if I was in a movie theater. The soundtrack had me gripping my seat during intense moments and the dialogue was clear. I never had a problem not understanding what was said. I always look for that.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely love this show!! It left us way too soon and I know the “Fannibals” (term given to the fans of the show) are hoping for its return one day. This series pushed the limits with incredible and brilliant writing. I am surprised (as were many) that the series lasted as long as it did on network television due to its graphic subject matter. Mikkelsen did an exceptional job portraying Hannibal Lecter. I had loved his character from the beginning and he definitely doesn’t disappoint in Season 3. Hannibal is smart, an impeccable dresser, and very calculated. Gillian Anderson’s character Bedelia du Maurier wasn’t a saint herself as she had some issues. Her character always seemed “drugged” to me. But who wouldn’t be hanging out with Hannibal and knowing all his dark secrets. After all, she was his phsycatriast. Will (Hugh Dancy) always had my attention with every scene. You can’t forget about Laurence Fishburne (Jack). His presence alone always added an extra appeal to the show. I loved the fact that it took place in Europe. I have never been there and it was like taking a mini vacation with each episode. Season 3 was confusing at times but still kept me wanting more at the end of each episodes. If you haven’t watched this series you are missing out. I would definitely start with Season 1 and work your way up. You will enjoy the ride!
