With just a few shorts weeks until Dragon Ball Super: Broly hits theaters in Japan, a new secret has been unleashed. With Broly officially entering Dragon Ball canon, another film exclusive character is coming with him. Gogeta, the fused Saiyan enters the battle and to face off against the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. So far, Dragon Ball Super has been living up to fans expectations with many surprises along the way. We’ve seen new characters with the introduction of multiple universes along with more Saiyans. And we’ve seen a wave of fan favorites return like Trunks, Android 17 and even Vegeto. What makes Gogeta important is how he comes to be.
Gogeta originally appeared in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn when Goku and Vegeta fused together. This fusion is different from the series version since the fusion technique is different. In Dragon Ball Z, and Super, Goku and Vegeta use the power of the Potara Earrings to fuse together to become Vegeto. Also in DBZ, Goku learns of a fusion technique, the fusion dance, to temporarily fuse two individuals for 30 minutes. We’ve only seen Goten and Trunks successfully use the technique to become Gotenks in the series (Dragon Ball GT doesn’t count). And in the movie Fusion Reborn, we see Goku and Vegeta use the same fusion dance technique to become Gogeta. The two are entirely different fighters with different personalities, but both bad ass. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is almost here and I’m curious as to what surprises are left with so much already revealed.
