“GODZILLA MINUS ONE” IS PLUS ONE ACADEMY AWARD
1 min readBeating out Hollywood films, like Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, with budgets 10+ times larger, Godzilla Minus One made history at the 2024 Academy Awards by taking home the award for Best Visual Effects. This is the first Academy Award for any Godzilla film and Godzilla Minus One is the first Japanese Language film to rack up a win in the VFX category.
The film written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also oversaw the film’s visual effects has grossed over $50 Million at the box office, making it the highest grossing Japanese Live Action or Japanese Animated film ever released in the United States
