NUKE THE FRIDGE EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Cox Secretly Confirmed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day!
Hello everyone, Luis Lecca here. I usually don’t run exclusives, but this one felt too big to pass up. Until now, Charlie Cox’s involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has only been a rumor — nothing officially confirmed. Well, from what I’ve just learned, it looks like those rumors can finally be put to rest. Cox is indeed returning as Matt Murdock, better known as Daredevil, in the upcoming Spider-Man film. And honestly, it makes perfect sense. With Jon Bernthal also reprising his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, Marvel seems to be setting the stage for a nice crossover.
So here’s how I found out. A reliable source casually told me — not realizing what an insane spoiler that was. They said, “Charlie will be heading over there to film Spider-Man,” and I’ll admit, I got a little pissed about the spoiler. The funny part is they had no clue I’m a fan or that I’d even care. I didn’t react at all in the moment, so if this ever makes it out, they’ll never know it came from me. And to be fair, they never actually said not to share it.
This lines up with the growing whispers about Marvel bringing Daredevil deeper into Spider-Man’s world, something fans have been hoping to see ever since Cox’s cameo in No Way Home. If this turns out to play a major role in Brand New Day, we might finally see the darker, grittier side of Spidey’s universe collide with the Hell’s Kitchen corner of the MCU.
Whether Marvel and Sony intended for this info to leak yet is another question, but one thing’s clear: this hypes me up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day a bit more.
SPOILERS! Spider-Man: Brand New Day — Everything We Know So Far
Marvel and Sony are once again teaming up to bring Peter Parker back to the big screen, this time in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, the film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Filming kicked off in August 2025, with Glasgow, Scotland standing in for the streets of New York City.
Tom Holland returns as everyone’s favorite web-slinger, but he won’t be swinging into action alone. Zendaya is set to reprise her role as MJ, Jacob Batalon is back as Ned, and Jon Bernthal will make his full return to the MCU as Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher. Adding more fuel to the hype, Michael Mando will once again step into the role of Mac Gargan, a.k.a. Scorpion, a villain first teased in Homecoming. The cast also includes Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in a mysterious role, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, plus new faces like Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman.
The choice of title is no accident. “Brand New Day” comes straight from the comics, where the storyline reset Peter Parker’s life after years of escalating crises. In the MCU, the film is expected to serve a similar purpose: following the fallout of No Way Home, Peter’s identity has been erased from the world’s memory, leaving him to rebuild his life from scratch. The movie promises to steer Spider-Man back toward his street-level roots — smaller-scale threats, more grounded storytelling, and higher emotional stakes.
Tom Holland himself has described the film as a kind of rebirth for the character. “It really feels like we aren’t making the fourth movie,” he teased in an interview. “It feels like a fresh start.” Fans are also buzzing about a possible new suit, one said to be more comic-accurate than ever before.
With Daredevil and Punisher already rumored to play major roles alongside Spider-Man, it looks like Marvel is setting the stage for a darker, grittier corner of the MCU — one where Hell’s Kitchen and Queens collide. And if the whispers are true, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could end up being the most important chapter yet in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man journey.
