The Book of the Dead a.k.a. Necronomicon Ex-Mortis was made infamous in the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness film series created by Sam Raimi. The Necronomicon is described as to have been written by the Dark Ones, bound in human flesh and inked in blood. This text contained prophecies, funerary incantations, and demon resurrection passages. Now a closer examination at the inside of the book has been revealed, which is tied into this fall’s Starz series Ash vs Evil Dead. Check out the pages, but do not read them out loud or as a bedtime story. The nightmares could prove fatal!

Actor Bruce Campbell discussed his character, Ash Williams, and how he is bound to the series.

“This is a guy who thought he could just quietly live a life of quiet desperation and—no. He brings it back upon himself and the world, and he of all people must save the world from his own doing. That’s classic Evil Dead. Ash is basically responsible for everything.”

Can’t a guy get a break?

The Ash Vs. Evil Dead project will premiere on Starz sometime this fall. The series will star Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Lucy Lawless, Mimi Rogers, Jill Marie Jones and Hemky Madera. Sam Raimi will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer alongside Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy co-wrote the series. Craig DiGregorio (Chuck) will executive produce and serve as the writing showrunner along with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Ivan Raimi will serve as co-executive producer, while Aaron Lim (Spartacus) will produce.
