Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is an absolutely fantastic game and an excellent addition to the long historic Dragon Quest franchise. I was absolutely floored as I played the game from start to finish and honestly, I never got bored in the 70+ hours I put into it but I did have a small problem, while I played the game on the PlayStation 4….part of me wanted to play the 3DS version of the game which included a retro 2D style but sadly that never made it out in the West.

During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that DQXI is heading to the Nintendo Switch later this year and it will be known as Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition (that’s a mouthful). As the Definitive Edition, it will include extra content not found in the PS4 or Steam version including the ability to select Japanese voice acting and will even include new scenarios for each character. Not only that but the Switch version will include the 2D maps from the 3DS version which might be the reason I buy this game again.
