Dragon Ball Super: Broly makes massive debut at #1

Looks like Broly has smashed the competition. On it’s opening day, Dragon Ball Super: Broly has become the #1 movie in the US! Funimation was pleased to announce over $7M in the box office, making it 1st on it’s debut. On top of that, the movie continued to exceed studio expectations with a box office weekend of $10.6M, just edging out current blockbuster Aquaman for 3rd place. Both critics and audiences seem to enjoy with a current rating of 80% on Rottentomatoes.com.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the retelling of the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. This time, the story is written by Akira Toriyama and follows the events after Dragon Ball Super. Along with the origin of Broly, we also see the rise of Frieza as well as the destruction of Planet Namek. We also see how Goku ended up on Earth. Though originally thought to have been sent on a mission, Goku was actually saved by his father Bardock. It’s a great retelling as well as a great chapter in the Dragon Ball Saga.
