About a year ago when Disney had purchased Lucasfilm, one major franchise was not included with the deal, & that is the Indiana Jones franchise. Paramount Pictures owned a part of the rights at the time. Today it was announced that Disney has now gained some ownership of the franchise by reaching a deal with Paramount, giving Disney control over all future films of the franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, while Disney gains control for future Indy films, Paramount will retain the rights to the first four films & “will receive a financial participation on any future films that are produced and released.”
This whole Indy thing brings something to my attention. It was rumored a couple months back that Harrison Ford apparently wanted to make sure that there would be some sort of progress made in the next Indiana Jones film, in order for him to sign on to do the next Star Wars film. Am I the only one that thinks the announcement made today had something to do with this?
