Last month, Konami revealed that it would be releasing three different collections from Konami’s massive catalog of games which include Contra, Castlevania, and its Arcade Classics. For Castlevania, it was announced that it would include eight games with four of them being announced.
And now we know what other four games are being included, with one of them leaving us pleasantly surprised. The first game is Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, this one doesn’t come as much of a surprise as it would complete the trilogy of NES games.
Castlevania Bloodlines was another game we predicted would be added, originally released on the Sega Genesis in 1994 and followed John Morris (a distant descendant of the Belmont Clan) and Eric Lecarde. Castlevania The Adventure was also announced and makes perfect sense since Konami revealed that it would be releasing the sequel Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge first. To be honest I would have loved to see Konami instead release Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth which was a remake released on the Nintendo Wii back in 2009.
Finally, the last game announced in the collection was Kid Dracula! You may not be familiar with this title as it never released outside of Japan. Developed for the Famicom it was a spin-off to the Castlevania series and released in 1990…..Konami did, however, release the remake/sequel in the West back in 1993 for the original Gameboy, so chances are you might have missed that one like I originally did.
The Castlevania Collection will be released on May 16th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC for $19.99.
Konami also released the Arcade Classics today which includes Haunted Castle, A-JAX, Nemesis, Vulcan Venture, Salamander, Thunder Cross, Scramble, and TwinBee.
