Bad news for fans who were looking forward to the release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night later this year as Koji Igarashi revealed that the game will be delayed until 2019 and that PlayStation Vita version of the game has been canceled.
As for the announcement of the cancellation, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise as Sony previously announced that it was no longer supporting the Vita and would be effectively ending the ability for companies to release any physical releases at the end of the year as well as end certain features from the Vita online store. Backers who are affected by this, will be able get select a different platform for their copy of the game or get a refund.
In terms of the delay, IGA revealed that this decision was made in response to feedback from the backer demo that was released back in June. This will give the development team more time to raise the quality of the game.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. From what we’ve played it’s definitely worth the wait for fans who’ve been eager to play a new Castlevania-style game but luckily we have Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon to keep us a busy a little longer.
