It was back in 2015 that former Castlevania Director Koji Igarashi aka IGA announced a Kickstarter for his project Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. After successfully raising more than $5.5 million fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of what could best be described as the spiritual successor to the Castlevania series.

One of the stretch goals for the campaign was a retro-style game and at BitSummit Vol. 6, IGA revealed Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon which is being developed by Inti Creates.

It’s rather easy to feel excited returning to the 8-bit Casltevania style gameplay but this game also has a few twists. Similar to Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse you are able to recruit more characters after defeating a boss, with four characters total to play as and switch between. Each character has their own unique skills and abilities but also have their own life bars and will include various game modes as well as multiple endings.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will be released on May 24th digitally on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Those who backed the Kickstarter campaign at a certain tier will receive a code for the game, those who didn’t though will be able to purchase Curse of the Moon for $9.99.

Here is a quick look at each of the characters:
