Dragon Ball FighterZ isn’t the only fighting game developer Arc System Works has releasing this year as it’s previously revealed fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle was revealed to be coming on June 5th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Taking characters from games that Arc Systems Works has released including BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena and Under Night In-Birth this is a fighting game that had fans excited especially after it was revealed that characters from RWBY would be joining the roster…..or atleast they were.
While the game looks awesome and fantastic, there was a piece of news that has led many fans to be upset and rightfully so. While the game is still in development it was revealed that BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will release with 20 characters with a majority of them coming from the BlazBlue series. A fighting game with around 20 characters isn’t that bad, however, the biggest problem lies in the fact that Arc System Worksannounced that 20 more characters would be added as DLC characters, so in reality at launch your only getting about half the game.
It gets better, aside from Ruby and Weiss from RWBY, the rest of the cast are characters pretty much coming straight out of their respective game and Arc System Works wants to add new characters to the game and those are the ones they plan on charging for. It doesn’t sound that pleasant and it isn’t because these aren’t characters that are being added to the game later on to expand the roster but instead the company is already planning on working on them ahead of time in an effort to make more money off the players.
Right now though, there are a lot of questions to ask such as, what is Arc System Works going to charge for the game on release and how much will it cost you to unlock all the characters. While I’d rather have a full complete version of the game to play with right from the start (and I may wait for that eventual release down the line If I am unhappy with what Arc System Works announces) If the base game is around $20 or so and the rest of the characters come out to be around $30 or so, then that’s fine but that would be the more ideal solution for now we can only wait and see.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle has been announced as an EVO Japan 2018 title, which is happening on January 26th to January 28th. We should get a lot more answers at the event.
