Big INDIANA JONES 5 Casting News!

Deadline Hollywood reports that Oscar-nominated actor Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”) has joined the cast of director James Mangold’s “Indiana Jones 5” starring Harrison Ford. The cast also includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Mads Mikkelsen (“Hannibal”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), and Shaunette Renée Wilson (“The Resident”).

Jez Butterworth (“Edge of Tomorrow”), John-Henry Butterworth (“Ford v Ferrari”) and James Mangold co-wrote the recent script.

Director James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari”) is taking over directing duties from Steven Spielberg (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), who directed the previous four installments. Spielberg stepped down as director to focus on his “West Side Story” remake for 20th Century Studios. Spielberg will still serve as producer on the film alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.

Banderas has been coming off his Best Actor nomination for the Spanish drama, “Pain and Glory”, and has been signing on to a number of projects having just co-starred in the recently released “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard”, starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Selma Hayek.

Banderas’ upcoming films include the Sony Pictures action/adventure “Uncharted” film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, the Dreamworks Animation sequel, “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and the Spanish comedy, “Official Competition” with Penelope Cruz.
